Cheltenham Festival day 3 at Hurdle Bet
Day 3 of the Cheltenham Festival sees more compelling horse racing come to punters from the pure sporting theatre that is Prestbury Park. Hurdle Bet takes you right into the action from the Cotswolds course and we’ve got the full racecard for the Thursday and every day covered. Ryanair now sponsor both big feature races on Cheltenham Festival day 3, with the Ryanair Chase and then the Stayers’ Hurdle acting as back-to-back Grade 1s on the card. There’s so much more than that to enjoy at Cheltenham, though, across four fantastic Festival days from Tuesday, March 13 to Friday, March 16 2018…
Pertemps Final, Stayers’ Hurdle, Dawn Run Mares’, Kim Muir and more
The first of seven races on Cheltenham Festival day 3 is the Grade 1 JLT Novices’ Chase ran over two-and-a-half miles. Yorkhill belatedly kick-started things for jockey Ruby Walsh and trainer Willie Millins in the most renewal of this, as those connections had fail to ride or saddle a winner at the 2017 Cheltenham Festival before the JLT. The Pertemps Final is a Listed 3m hurdles contest and tends to be an open affair like all Fesitval handicaps. Following those opening races on the card is more Grade 1 action in the form of the Ryanair Chase over 2m 5f. Mullins and Walsh again teamed up for Un De Sceaux, who was so impressive stepping up in trip to this distance for the first time in the British Isles in the 2017 renewal. The renamed Stayers’ Hurdle, is for horses who can last 3m. Yet again, it was Mullins and Walsh in the winners’ enclosure thanks to Nichols Canyon, another who successfully stepped up in trip. Two more open contests over fences follow on from that in the Brown Advisory Stable Plate (2m 5f) and Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup (extended 3m 1f) either side of the newest Cheltenham Festival race, the Grade 2 Dawn Run Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle over 2m 1f. Let’s Dance landed this in 2017, so Mullins and Walsh landed a day three four-timer. Hurdle Bet will be tipping across all races throughout the Festival, so have a flutter through us.
