Eziyra odds and Brendan Bracken bets among Cork tips for August 8
Hurdle Bet experts give their Cork tips for August 8, which include Eziyra odds and Brendan Bracken bets this Tuesday.
Eziyra can cash-in on a drop in class and land the Group 3 Give Thanks Stakes on Tuesday’s evening card at Cork (19:30).
The Dermot Weld trained filly showed progressive form when winning four of her two starts as a juvenile, finishing runner-up on the two other occasions.
In the first of those successes at Galway she stayed on strongly to beat Hydrangea, who has subsequently been placed four times at Group 1 level, by two lengths.
Eziyra then lost little in defeat when a neck runner-up to Sea Of Grace in a Group 3 at The Curragh and the winner has gone on to finish an excellent runner-up in the French 1000 Guineas.
Solid effort in Irish Oaks
The selection then rounded off the campaign with a smooth two length success in a Group 3 at the same venue, staying on well to win going away from Grecian Light.
Judged on those performances, Eziyra looked an exciting prospect who should make up into a smart three-year-old.
There was certainly lots to like about her return to action when runner-up in the King George V Cup at Leopardstown.
Eziyra has since run well to finish a keeping on 7 1/2 lengths third to superstar filly Enable in the Group 1 Irish Oaks.
That form sets a clear standard in this lower grade affair and very much makes her the one to beat.
Brendan Bracken bets the Platinum punt
Brendan Bracken has an excellent record at the track and looks value to further enhance it with victory in the Listed 1m Platinum Stakes (19:00).
The Ger Lyons trained eight-year-old has won three times and been placed twice in five runs at the venue.
He has been a grand servant over the years and is a tough and consistent sort, who has looked as good as ever in winning two of his four starts this season.
Although slightly below par last time out when fourth in a Group 3 at Leopardstown, he is a potent force at this level and expected to bounce back.
Brendan Bracken also has less questions to answer than the Aidan O’Brien trained duo of Sir John Lavery and Whitcliffsofdover.
He also hails from a yard which boasts a tremendous strike rate of 36 per cent at the track in the past 12 months, so Brendan Braken bets could pay off.
