Project Bluebook odds attractive in Scottish Triumph Trial
Hurdle Bet tipsters like a JP McManus double among Musselburgh tips for February 4, including Project Bluebook odds and Drumcliff.
A number of key Scottish trials ahead of the Cheltenham Festival take place on this course this weekend, and Project Bluebook should land a hat-trick of Musselburgh wins.
Recently acquired by powerful Irish owner McManus, this soon-to-be four-year-old has two course and distance wins ahead of the Scottish Triumph Hurdle Trial (13:30).
There’s absolutely no hesitation from connections pitching Project Bluebook into Listed company here.
His two extended 1m 7f victories at the venue make the JJ Quinn trained gelding stand out.
Azure Fly each-way value in Edinburgh National
A gruelling extended 4m awaits a field of 13 in the class 2 Edinburgh National (14:05), and Azure Fly looks each-way value.
Trained by Charlie Longsdon, this eight-year-old is on a sequence of six successive first three finishes.
With a whopping 19lb taken off his back for stepping up in class, Azure Fly each-way is a real proposition.
The services of Nico de Boinville in the saddle is also a huge plus.
Drumcliff worth waiting for
Plenty of punters backed Drumcliff to win the final race on Cheltenham Festival Trials day last weekend only to see him withdrawn by McManus.
Still just a five-year-old, Harry Fry’s charge has shaped well in successive runner-up finishes at Bangor and Kempton. He went down by a length on both occasions.
Drumcliff enters Listed company in the extended 1m 7f Scottish County Hurdle (15:15) off 1lb lower than last time out.
Noel Fehily is once again on board and, if he can curb this horse’s tendency to jump slightly left, all signs point to it being third time lucky for Drumcliff.
Superior Command a shout for successive wins
In the class 4 handicap hurdle that closes proceedings (16:20), Superior Command catches the eye for Lucinda Russell.
Put up just 2lb for a 3 1/4 lengths success over course and distance last time out, the handicapper is generous to this seven-year-old.
The re-opposing and hugely-experienced Endeavor also has C/D form to his name, but finished 14 1/2 lengths behind Superior Command last time out.
Although there’s 1 1/2 stone in difference between them now, that is unlikely to be a factor.
