Belmount odds head Uttoxeter tips for May 6
Hurdle Bet experts give Uttoxeter tips for May 6, and Belmount odds are attractive for the Staffordshire Plate.
Belmount ran a blinder when runner-up last time out and can go on better to land the 3m feature Staffordshire Plate on a competitive card at Uttoxeter (15:55).
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ eight-year-old returned to form when staying on well to be beaten 2 1/2 lengths by the in-form Upswing at Cheltenham.
Belmount stuck to the task well and the pair pulled 11 lengths clear of the field.
That gives the form a strong look.
Although now 3lb higher in the weights, Belmount’s revised rating of 127 is the same as when last successful at Hereford back in October.
It gives him major claims from a handicapping perspective.
Off 10st 5lb, Belmount receives weight from all his rivals on ground that he relishes.
If building on his latest effort, this looks a nice opportunity for him to get back on the scoresheet.
Back Belmount odds for success in the Staffordshire Plate.
Sheneededtherun appeals on handicap debut
Sheneededtherun has a progressive profile and can cash-in on what looks a potentially lenient mark to land the 2m 7f mares’ handicap hurdle (16:30).
The seven-year-old was a point winner in Ireland and shaped with plenty of promise on her second start for trainer Michael Scudamore when a staying on, though never nearer nine length fourth to Brillare Momento at Southwell.
Sheneedetherun was not knocked about and the winner has since gone on to land a Listed contest at Cheltenham to be rated 137.
That form reads well in the context of this contest.
The selection comes into it on the back of an easy 22 length success at Wetherby.
Sheneededtherun has been allotted an opening handicap mark of 117 on the back of that victory.
That could well underestimate her ability, judged on her run behind Brillare Momento.

Compadre can be punters’ pal
Compadre caught the eye last time out, so looks the answer to the 3m novices’ handicap chase (17:05) now stepped up in trip.
Jonjo O’Neill’s charge looked a smart prospect when scoring on debut in a bumper at Bangor.
He pulled readily clear to beat the now 123-rated Wild West Wind (rated 135 over fences) by eight lengths, despite showing distinct signs of greenness.
Compadre then found things too hot to handle when 17th of 29 to Ballyandy in the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival.
The fact that connections ran him in that contest suggests he is held in high regard.
He has since posted a couple of solid runs over hurdles.
Compadre also shaped well on his second starts over fences last month when a staying on third over 2m 1f at Market Rasen, after getting outpaced three from home.
Judged on that run, he may well have more to offer over this longer trip.
A mark of 116 looks exploitable on the pick of his form.
