Fabulous Saga odds given quote in 2018 Albert Bartlett betting
Cheltenam Bet report on Fabulous Saga odds after the Willie Mullins trained 3m novice wins at Cork to earn a quote in the 2018 Albert Bartlett betting.
Grade 3 novice victor Fabulous Saga is a first-show best price 16/1 with BetVictor for the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at next year’s Cheltenham Festival.
The five-year-old bolted up on bottomless ground in a stayers event at Cork on their Hilly Way Chase day card which was later abandoned.
Fabulous Saga made all in the hands of Danny Mullins, asserting to go clear after four out.
So large was his lead in testing conditions that the jockey could afford to ease him right down and still score by 70 lengths.
This was an impressive display on really difficult going for all five horses, but Fabulous Saga received backing from 6/1 overnight into a 3/1 SP.
Handler Mullins landed last season’s Albert Bartlett renewal with Penhill.
Analysis: Must prove more than a mudlark

Fabulous Saga is exactly what his name suggests – on heavy going.
This 3m Irish point winner’s best performances under rules have come in the mud.
He won a 2m 4f novice hurdle contest at Listowel’s Harvest Festival on heavy back in September by 20 lengths unextended.
Cloustton handler Mullins saw Fabulous Saga shaping as a stayer, so stepped him up in trip and got his reward with a Grade victory here.
How likely connections are to get bottomless ground come the spring and the Cheltenham Festival is another matter.
Fabulous Saga odds in the 2018 Albert Bartlett betting are about where they should be – well behind Gigginstown House Stud’s Cracking Smart.
That Gordon Elliott trained rival had Fabulous Saga trailing in 13 1/2 lengths behind in third on soft ground in a Listed 3m contest at Cork in November.
Until he proves he can go in better conditions, punters should regard him as a winter horse.
