    Horse racing at Leopardstown

Leopardstown is a dual purpose track situated close to Dublin. It has three major jumps meetings, the first in December is the Christmas Festival featuring the Grade 1 Lexus Chase won a record three times by Beef Or Salmon. Some great horses have triumphed in the 3m contest, including Cheltenham Gold Cup winners Best Mate, Denman and Imperial Call. The Irish Champion Hurdle takes centre stage at the January meeting, whilst in February there are a host of top class Grade 1 contests including the Irish Gold Cup. Throughout its history, the latter has served as a leading trial for the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Two horses have won both events in the same year; Jodami in 1993 and Imperial Call in 1996. Florida Pearl won the race a record four times, scoring in 1999-2001 and 2004.
